In the Wizard of Oz, Dorothy’s mantra was all about lions and tigers and bears. In our view of the world, it’s all about windows, and doors and cupolas. Each receives equal attention at Gardensheds® and there’s an obvious reason why we’re different. Namely, we do not purchase stock, “cookie-cutter” parts from another supplier. We’re not interested in plastic components from China. Instead, we design and manufacture our own distinct component parts of genuine wood, copper, and iron. This not only ensures design and material consistency throughout our building, it also ensures that everything fits and functions as it should. It also means that if there’s a problem with one of our components we’re not going to point fingers at someone else. Fortunately, we rarely, if ever, encounter a problem probably because we are in control of the construction process. Our windows feature 1 1/2” thick solid mahogany frames with mortise and tenon joinery, profiled muntins, divided lites, and an integral copper drip cap. Optional screens are available for all window sizes. Windows function with a 12” swing-out wood arm and may also be hinged on the side for an outswing opening. We are the only “shed” manufacturer who makes this level of quality in a window. We are often asked if we sell our windows, doors and cupolas as individual items. The short answer is, no we do not. The longer answer is that we consider our components parts to be an integral part of our design. Moreover, these items impart a signature and recognizeable level of craftsmanship to our buildings that immediately distinguish them from others.

Doors Doors are the first thing you notice about any building, and ours are certainly worth notice. Like our windows, we manufacture our doors in our Pennsylvania workshop. French Doors are constructed of solid mahogany in much the same manner as our windows. Our Chevron Pattern Doors and Carriage Doors, because they are oversize and weighty, are intricately constructed of cedar, fir, and poplar to ensure optimum stability and durability. Handforged black iron hardware is standard for many of our designs. Where appropriate and more desired than iron hardware we also use traditional cast brass, nickel and bronze hardware. We offer a variety of options for our doors, including cedar frame screen doors, Dutch door, Cross-Bucks, and window lite. Cupolas Gardenshed® Cupolas stand like rooftop sentries keeping a watchful eye over the landscape. With a weathervane attached they dance in the wind. A cupola is more than a decorative addition. For sure, our vented cupolas are substantial and bring detail and definition to a roof ridge, but just as importantly they allow for proper interior air circulation. Depending on style and application our cupolas are available with both cedar and copper roofs. Optional weathervanes in a variety of styles are available upon request. We also offer gable end vents and a charming dovecote cupola that tucks on the underside of a gable overhang. |
